The castle with towers that the Carraresi family has wished to build is remarkable. The 15^th-century Town Hall, the ancient church of St. Martin, the medieval church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the 16^th-century church Santa Maria delle Consolazioni and the cathedral(Duomo) are of artistic interest. The latter, an early Christian temple, was rebuilt after the earthquake that destroyed it in 1688. The building is elliptical and houses a rich collection of statues and paintings, including a famous altarpiece by Giovanbattista Tiepolo (it represents Santa Tecla intercededing with God to free the city from the plague in 1630).
